As the cooler fall weather begins to settle into Atlanta, people move outdoors to enjoy a variety of festivals and activities. Residents and visitors can explore a different festival venue each weekend, enjoying the entertainment, food, and arts and crafts. Here is an overview of some of the most popular festivals on the Atlanta north side.

The 45th annual Roswell Arts Festival will be held the weekend of September 17-18. The festival features a variety of fine arts and original crafts. Vendors come from all over the Southeast to display quality paintings, photography, graphics, jewelry, and other items. In addition, there will be musical entertainment, food, and childrens activities. The festival venue is located at 617 Atlanta Street on the Roswell Square. Hours are from 10am-6pm, and admission is free. Festival attendees may park at Roswell City Hall and take the free shuttle.

The Duluth Fall Festival is scheduled for September 24-25. This festival, celebrating its 28th year, takes place in the streets of downtown Duluth and on the Town Green. More than 350 vendors will have booths featuring art, handmade crafts, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and food. Musical groups and dancers will entertain the crowds from the stage on the Town Green. There will be carnival rides and games for the kids. Festival hours are from 9am-6pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday. A parade through downtown kicks off the festivities on Saturday morning at 10am, and there is a 5K race scheduled for Sunday morning. Festival admission is free. Parking is available at three lots around town with free shuttle service.

The Crossroads at Crabapple Antique and Art Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 1. This old fashioned festival takes place in the historic Crabapple community of North Fulton County. Thousands of American country antiques will be available from 50 dealers, and 50 local juried artists will offer unique art. There will be food, entertainment, and childrens activities. Festival admission is free, and hours are from 9am-5pm. The festival venue is located at 790 Mayfield Road in the town of Milton.

The 35th Annual Harvest Square Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on the square in downtown Marietta, Georgia on October 15. Area artists and crafts people will display jewelry, pottery, paintings, glass, woodwork, and floral designs. Local schools and community organizations will participate in the Scarecrows on the Square contest. Children will enjoy the games, activities, and prizes in the Halloween Happenings area. Hours of the festival are from 9am-6pm, and admission is free. Parking is available in the city parking deck on Waddell Street.

All of these festivals offer family friendly activities and entertainment. A visit to one of these popular festivals is a pleasant way to enjoy an Atlanta fall weekend.
